A Thrill of Hope

by Nancy

Through sleeping tunnels
Hope
Lights his step
Home

A chamber
Candled against the dark
Glows
Brilliant
At his entering

Pacing

Sitting

So very difficult to settle

At last
Prepared for sleep
A dimming shade
Gray with doubt
Awakens
Paining questions

What
What is this hope
Without name

How can it be real
How can it be…anything

Some stronger spirit
Hers?
Renews his heart

He knows
A feeling

A hoping prayer

Let ‘What’
In its own good time
Titled and defined
Present itself real
Or…not

This night
She smiled
To see
Me

Kept me
With her smile

We spoke important words

I read to her
An ending

Not ours

And
I
For all of that

No

For just her smile

I cannot help but thrill
With
Hope
