Vincent and Catherine talking to Eric.

Question of the Day

What do you think?

Why did Joe feel he could trust Father - a complete stranger with such crucial information - without running at least a small investigation on him?

Winterfest is over and no new entries can be accepted. Here are the entries added during Winterfest.

Joe could kid around, or be the boss, but he had a street smart attitude. I think he had a hunch about Father and went with it.

Something about the way Father talked - about Catherine.

I always think Joe has such great instincts for people. If Catherine trusted Father, then he would trust him. Sometimes you just gotta have a little faith...

I think mabye it was just blind intuition- a hunch. Joe doesnt do that often- which is why he questions it- but im sure there's something vaguely familliar about Father (he'd seen him before- and had been wrong about him previously in those episodes) which perhaps hadnt dawned on him initally (and his vague involvement with Catherine). Maybe he did do a little look up on him- and found the limited information that Catherine found, then remembered the time he was in jail (mistakenly) for murder, When Joe asks why he should even be listening to Father, and he replies "because Catherine would want you to" , i think maybe something clicked.

Because the longer he was "on the outside" of the law, and out of the familiar context and mindset of his daily grind at his office, and the more stress, trauma and confusion he endured, the more his intuition began to assert itself and the more he began to realize that he was in an entirely new world, and entirely new situation, where the "old rules" no longer applied. I think the crazier things got, the more he was able to trust his instincts. In addition, often a brush with death like Joe had in the explosion will often shake a person up and get them in touch with parts of themselves that had been dormant/suppressed. I believe that is primarily what happened.... and the other factor of course would be that Father just radiates goodness and sanity and Joe is a decent judge of character, both because of his "street"-ish background and by training/experience as an attorney.

Joe has a great sense about people, an intuition that's helped him rise in his career. Also, Father's connection to Catherine made Joe feel partial to him, and want to trust him.

I think it's because they had Catherine in common. Joe trusted Catherine and thinks that if Catherine trusted someone, then he can too. And Joe had gotten to the point where he was kind of grasping at straws. Father was another straw that just might help.

Because Father told him Catherine would want him to. Joe probably feels responsible for happened to her so he want do anything to atone for it.

Well, for one thing, they had met before, and I guess Joe now knows that Father was right about Elliott. Then, Father told him at their first meeting he was a friend of Catherine's, at the second he has a message from Diana, and wen Joe asks whim "Why am I listening to you?" Father answers "because Catherine would want you to."

Sure no other option, but surely a hope to see aconnection to Catherine , a part that he was missing before. And a hope his job would and could something to bring good things to the fore.

--------- Actually he did not had a choice; not much people left he could trust and running out of time and options. And the behaviour of this old man got him, Catherine would have trusted him too and asked later and Joe always trusted her instinkts.

Because they had one VERY strong connection, Catherine. She was Joe's weakness, so when Father said her name it instantly tugged at Joe's heart and led to him opening his ears. I think because they shared Catherine there was an instant trust there that no one could explain, but it was very real.

Honestly? Because he probably had no choice and was plain out of options. He had to know Gabriel's tentacles stretched wide. And that Father was either an obvious trap sent by him or his salvation. He leaped at the latter explanation out of desperate hope.
