BatB Logic Puzzle

When Michael Richmond took his report card home back to the tunnels at the end of his first term at Brayfield College, Father and Vincent and his Tunnel family were quite pleased with it, though the grades he got ranged from C+ to A. Being a small college, the Brayfield teachers were able to add comments to elaborate on their letter grades. Can you figure out, from the clues below, which grade Michael was given by which teacher in each of the five subjects and which comment went with which grade?

How to play: Use the grid to help you work through the clues. Remember, there is only one match in each column and row. If you click on a box, it will cycle through an X (for "No"), a dot (for"Yes") and the blank box (for "How am I supposed to tell?!") Can you match Catherine's detective skills?

You'll find it easiest to hit F11 to see as much of the grid as possible, and you might want to use CTRL - to reduce the size as far as you can and still read the clues and headings.

Clues:

  1. The A grade was, of course, matched with the comment 'excellent,' while the A- was not accompanied by the comment 'works hard.'

  2. The grade given by Mr. Benson was not as good as the Physics grade, but higher than the one which drew the comment 'intelligent.'

  3. A 'steady worker' was Mr. Hartfield's assessment of Michael.

  4. Michael received a B+ from his French teacher.

  5. In American History, Michael was given a grade immediately higher than the one he received for Calculus, which is not taught by Ms. Thompson.

  6. The B grade was awarded by Ms. Emerson.

  7. The English teacher, Ms. Arias, awarded Michael the grade immediately higher than the one which preceded the comment 'solid progress.'
