Poem of the Day

February 13, 2009

    Catherine in Vincent's Chamber

I Have No Life But This

By Emily Dickinson

I have no life but this,
To lead it here;
Nor any death, but lest
Dispelled from there;
Nor tie to earths to come,
Nor action new,
Except through this extent,
The Realm of You!

A beautiful poem that I can easily see Vincent reading to Catherine.

Emily Dickinson is a favorite of mine as well. She must have had the most unusual vision to see so much from her self-chosen seclusion. She too was a singer and was said to be unusually thoughtful of others. Vicky, you've captured her ethereal qualities in this reading. Yours is a beautiful, gentle and powerful reading. I ditto Daria *sigh*

I love Emily Dickinson. Though I have never met you Vicky, I just felt as if I had, from hearing your beautiful voice reading this poem. You made it come alive.
